There is no way around it: The holiday season is stressful! Death causes people to change their attitudes. For client families, tension among family members can already be heightened and dealing with a death during the holidays can make it worse. For us "front liners," we can be overwhelmed. Owners and managers need to take time and meet with the entire staff about emotions they may deal with during the holidays. For one, normal schedules can be disrupted. Demands on your time can be challenging; time can take on a new meaning for you and client families. What are some things caregivers can do to cope?
May peace, joy and health be with all of you. But I heard him exclaim ere he drove out of sight, "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night."
