From: Mike Kubasak

How do I become the successful person I dream about and deserve to be?

Answer: Set achievable goals. How do you define a "goal?" I once heard a speaker define it as: A dream...with a plan and a deadline.

Why is it that many of us don’t achieve our goals?

bulletWe fail to write them down and keep them in plain sight
bulletWe fail to make a plan to achieve our goals
bulletWe fail to commit or fail to live up to our commitments
bulletWe fail to make goals that were achievable in the first place

A recent study by Stanford University indicates that at least 74% of our adult society doesn’t even put their goals in writing! Amazing, don’t you agree?

Goal achievement is up to you. Self-talk, self-visualization and self-determination are 90% of the achievement process. The remaining 10% for achievement is listed below:

  1. Identify it. Write goals down. Make them clear. Be specific.
  2. Date it. Have a start time and finish time.
  3. List the obstacles you will have to overcome to achieve your goal.
  4. List the people to contact who will work with you and help you achieve your goal.
  5. List the skills and knowledge you need to have in order to achieve your goal.
  6. Make an action plan for each goal. Be specific.
  7. List the benefits of goal achievement. WIIFM....what’s in it for me?
  8. Take action every day, even it is only for 10 or 15 minutes.

And don’t forget to tell yourself, "I am the greatest."
